It is a good sign when a group can take a popular song — in this case, the Martina McBride classic “This One’s for the Girls” — and make it seem so their own that a reviewer has to double-check the liner notes just to confirm it’s not.

In this case, the group is Cadia, and the 11 songs of the female duo’s self-titled debut record is jam packed with good signs, good songs and little room for complaints. The melodies are catchy and the arrangements are interesting. The harmonizing sounds like Pink and Kelly Clarkson are smiling at each other and singing about being best friends — and it works.

A must for fans of ZOEgirl, BarlowGirl and maybe even the Dixie Chicks, Cadia will be on tour with Avalon this spring.
