For several years, we have collected Christmas cards for inmates at Limestone Correctional Facility. We want to share with the readers of The Alabama Baptist that it is time to begin making plans to help us this year. We know the inmates and staff appreciate our efforts.
We started collecting cards for the part of the facility that houses the HIV/AIDS inmates. This was because we wanted to honor the memory of our son who died as a result of this disease. We know how lonely a person can be with the disease. To be in prison with the disease must make it much more lonely away from family and loved ones.
Last year, Alabama Baptists were so caring that we received enough cards for the entire facility and another facility elsewhere in the state. We hope we can do the same this year.
As you select Christmas cards or make them, remember we want to bring a little Christmas cheer into the lives of those receiving the cards. The Christmas cards can be signed with an individual name or group/team name. Envelopes need to be left blank and not sealed. Children’s handmade cards do not have to have envelopes.
Send the cards to me: Scarlett M. Dunnam, 4030 6th Street East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. I need them by Dec. 9. Earlier will be great.
If you have questions, contact me or leave a message at 205-553-1592. My e-mail is adunnam@bellsouth.net.
Please pray for this effort and for those who will receive Christmas cards.
