Carrying Handguns

The “Saving lives with safety courses” article (Sept. 6 issue) left out one of the most important means of self-defense — the effective use of a handgun. Of course, one needs to get proper training in the safety and use of a firearm, and you will need a “concealed carry permit.” Gun shops, shooting clubs and other shooters can help one get the training and understanding needed to add a firearm to your self-defense tools.
