Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: I was born during the Depression. We had no transportation and we had no church nearby, so we could not attend church regularly. I didn’t get to go to church until I was a teenager. What they taught us at home was all that I knew (about being a Christian). When I was a teenager, we moved to where we could go to church every day. I made a profession in my early teen years.

Q: How have you been involved in church?
A: I have been the secretary at Bethel Baptist since 1966 and I taught Sunday School.

Q: What have you gotten from the ministries you have been involved in?

A: The church is just so important in my life. If it weren’t for my church family, I really don’t know what I would do. People ask me why I stay in Fort Deposit because I don’t have any family here, and I say, “I do have a family here. I have a church family.”

Q: How do you see yourself involved in church in the future?
A: As long as I am physically able, I hope to keep doing what I am doing now. It just gives me a new start every week to come to worship on Sundays. I just don’t see my life without the church.
