On Feb. 9, the congregation of Capitol Heights Baptist celebrated Carole Eagerton’s retirement with a reception for more than 100 people after she played the organ and piano for 20,000 services.
GuideStone shared new research conducted last year among members that found pastors overwhelmingly wished they had started saving for retirement earlier.
“Policy affects our lives, and Christian leaders cannot ignore issues, isolate themselves or be intimidated by opposition,” said Greg Davis, president/CEO of Alabama Citizens Action Program. “Instead, we must use our influence for good.”
Christian education must bridge the space between listeners’ hearts and minds in order to effectively change them for Christ, longtime preaching professor Robert Smith Jr. said during Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s chapel.
“Most Americans aren’t willing to agree that an infinite God can be reduced to a finite question stating His care for the Super Bowl winner,” said Lifeway Research’s Scott McConnell.
