CENTRAL ASIA — James (not his real name), a believer in Central Asia, is being held imprisoned and tortured for his faith.
“He has been blindfolded, handcuffed and held in solitary confinement,” a friend said after his family visited him recently in prison.
“During the day, he was confined to a room where there were three compressor units blowing hot air on him and he was not given any water or food.
At night, he was put in a very small jail cell and his hands were released just long enough to eat a small piece of bread and drink one liter of water.”
But James didn’t sleep — he stayed awake praying and singing praises, just as he did in the hot room during the daytime. He has lost nearly 50 pounds since being imprisoned.
Officials interrogated him, asking why he left his former religion — this is his third imprisonment for his faith. James replied, “I am on this way because of Jesus and what He has done for me.” James’ friend asks that Christians keep him and his family in their prayers.
“And next time you have the opportunity to share your faith and don’t because you’re scared, think about the freedom you have to do so,” the friend said.
