Chad Massey, pastor of First Baptist Church, Dawes, dies at age 49

Michael “Chad” Massey, pastor of First Baptist Church, Dawes, died Dec. 23, 2020. He was 49.

A native of Georgia, Massey graduated from Marietta High School and joined his father in the family business — a McDonald’s franchise — for 15 years as director of operations. He then felt a call to ministry and became minister of music and youth for Bethany Baptist Church, Bolingbroke, Georgia. He then served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Unadilla, Georgia, for three years before coming to First, Dawes.

Massey received a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies, a master of divinity degree and an honorary doctorate degree from Northwestern Christian University in New Port Richey, Florida.

Massey is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amy; son, Aaron; and daughters, Marissa and Paige.
