Chambliss, Hugh

Hugh Chambliss, a former Alabama Baptist pastor and director of missions (DOM), died Sept. 24. He was 83.
A member of First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Chambliss served as DOM for Madison Baptist Association for 22 years. He also served as pastor of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, for nine years. In addition, he served as second vice president of the Alabama Baptist State Convention.

Chambliss was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, with whom he had traveled extensively on missions trips to places such as Nigeria, Italy, England and Norway.
Chambliss is survived by two children and five grandchildren. (TAB)
