Matt Hilyer is the new pastor of Childersburg First Baptist Church.
He previously served as pastor of Mount Carmel No. 1 Baptist Church, Thorsby; Fair Park Baptist Church (now Blackberry Lane Community Church), Talladega; Farmington Baptist Church, Lewisburg, Tennessee; Trinity Baptist Church, Sylacauga; Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Clanton; Five Points Baptist Church, Sylacauga; and Union Grove Baptist Church, Jemison. He also was associate pastor of Collins Chapel Baptist Church, Jemison.
Hilyer holds two bachelor of science degrees in sociology and psychology and a master of education degree with a specialty in counseling from the University of Montevallo. He also studied theology at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. Hilyer and his wife, Ginger, have two children.
