Frances Christy has worked with preschooler and young children in music and education for more than 50 years alongside her husband, minister of music for Kinsey Baptist Church. State approved in discipleship training and Sunday School, she has taught 4 year olds at the Child Development Center at Calvary Baptist Church, Dothan, since 1981.
Q: What led you to work with children?
A: When my husband told me that the Lord called him to ministry, I prayed that the Lord would help me to be a helpmate to him.
Q: Why have you continued in this activity?
A: I love children. That’s where I think God wants me to be. If I can lay a foundation to help children know Jesus and know how He loves them, I feel (the work) is worth it.
Q: What does the ministry demand?
A: Time, study, willingness. I think you have to have a love for it. I really enjoy it.
Q :What do you get from the ministry?
A: The children’s love. I think they can tell that I love them, and, in turn, they love me.
Q: How do other family members support you?
A: My family has always been very supportive. My husband enjoys me helping him. It was always a family thing. Now all three of our children are on church staff somewhere.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: As long as the Lord give me health, I plan to stay there. I would like to be able to do His work until He calls me home.
