Church and school

Church and school

I have taken The Alabama Baptist since I moved here five years ago. I look forward to reading it every week.

The editorial page is remarkable, tough-minded, accurate and, so far as I can tell, faithful to that which makes us Southern Baptist Christian men and women. I have not read an editorial which did not speak to me deeply on some level.

The editorial “The Partnership Between Church and School” in the Aug. 18 issue of The Alabama Baptist was especially noteworthy.

I am, by training and disposition, a teacher. Nothing excites me more than to see the eyes light up in a child or an adult when that “eureka” moment comes to that person and they “get it.”

Your article in this week’s paper needs to be read, re-read and, if possible, memorized. Seldom have I seen what should be the very close relationship between church and school so clearly articulated. We really are all in this project called life together. Again thank you for your tireless efforts to keep ever fertile the devotional life of Alabama Baptists. I know you have led me mightily. I look forward to the next edition.
