Steve Kelley, 49, of Gordo, died Feb. 19.
A native of Columbus, Mississippi, Kelley was saved in 1989 and surrendered to ministry in 2011. In 2012, Kelley was licensed and ordained.
He was a graduate of Shelton State Community College and was enrolled in the bachelor’s of Christian ministry program at New Orleans Seminary. He worked at Bevill State Community College as an instructor in modern manufacturing at the Pickens Career Center.
He served at Highland Baptist Church, Gordo, twice. He taught and served as an adult small group leader and a member of the pulpit committee before he was called into ministry. He returned later to teach, reach out to the community and fill the pulpit. He also was senior and interim pastor of Double Branches Baptist Church, Gordo. He was senior pastor of Mount Hebron Baptist Church, Northport. He supplied the pulpit for Indian Lake Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, and was interim pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Ethelsville, and Kennedy Baptist Church. He was a transition pastor for Corinth Baptist Church, Elrod, and Springhill Baptist Church, Carrollton.
He is survived by his wife, Shellia, and two children.
