Churches damaged in Easter storms

Lawler Baptist Church, near Dora, and Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Priceville, are two churches with reported damage from today’s Easter storms moving through the state.

Lawler Baptist’s building “took a beating” by the storm pounding Walker County, according to Birmingham’s ABC 33/40. Reports also indicate the center cross of the three on display in the church yard for Easter remained standing while the ones on each side were knocked over by the wind.

Shoal Creek Baptist was struck by lightning mid-day and suffered steeple and roof damage, according to al.com.

Mount Pleasant Church in Sprott, Keener Baptist Church in Etowah County, Bethsaida Baptist Church in Boaz and Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Cherokee County also sustained damage, according to local reports.

No injuries were reported related to the churches damaged. (TAB)
