Columbia Association will change its name to Southeast Alabama Baptist Association, effective Jan. 1, 2018. The change was approved at the associational meeting Oct. 8 at Ridgecrest Church, Dothan. Director of Missions John Thomas said the name will better represent the membership and mission focus of the association.
Gov. Kay Ivey signed into law Wednesday the Powering Growth Act, a bill designed to accelerate energy infrastructure projects to boost industrial development in Alabama, particularly its rural areas.
The project, supported by Send Relief, aimed to empower women with the knowledge and skills to improve their families’ diets and generate income. At the heart of it was soybeans, a rich source of plant-based protein, carbs and fat.
Alabama lawmakers did a lot of new things for K-12 and higher education during the 2025 legislative session, but they also left several high-profile proposals on the table.
