The HIV/AIDS issue is a continuing challenge in sub-Saharan Africa. On a Saturday in April, we went with the Buccleuch Community Church congregation on an outreach to visit a Christian hospice in a Johannesburg township. The hospice is in a large rented house and had five residents when we were there. Pastor Phillip gave us an overview of their mission, which is to provide Christian care to terminally ill patients and minister to them  as they face death. In this racially diverse metro area, which is very race conscious, it is significant that racial and religious barriers crumble as patients approach death from this debilitating disease. We were allowed to visit with the patients and pray with them. Pray for Pastor Phillip and hospice workers who show Christian love to terminally ill HIV/AIDS patients.

The service on Wednesdays at our Guest House continues to be a blessing for Elaine and me. Every week we have a different group. David Hooten recently shared about his and wife Janet’s work with Muslims in a remote village in Mozambique. Pray for the Hootens.
