Couple with Alabama ties tapped for missions

A couple with Alabama ties were among 36 new missionaries appointed by the International Mission Board during a Jan. 30 service in Gainesville, Fla.

John Kea and his wife, Elizabeth, were commissioned to serve in Belgium — he in evangelism and church planting and she in community and home outreach.

John Kea, a Florence native, was employed as vice president and trust advisor by Pinnacle Financial Partners in Murfreesboro, Tenn., before his appointment for overseas missions work.

He earned a bachelor’s degree at Union University in Jackson, Tenn., and juris doctorate at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He has also completed some course work at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

Elizabeth Kea worked as an editor and writer for various publishers including Thomas Nelson before being appointed to international missions. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia in Athens.
The couple have three children, Noah Tyndale, 4; Eliana Carmichael, 2; and Meira Elliot, 2 months. (TAB)
