‘Courageous’ becomes Sherwood’s top-grossing film

ALBANY, Ga. — The church-made film “Courageous” has become the top-grossing film by Sherwood Baptist Church, passing its previous top film, “Fireproof.”

“Courageous” passed Fireproof on Dec. 17 and finished the weekend before Christmas with enough to push it to $33.5 million in total gross, bettering Fireproof’s $33.45 million.

The ranking means that each film by Sherwood Baptist has grossed more than its predecessor. The church — which gets only a portion of the total gross — also made the 2006 film “Facing the Giants.”
