CP and discipline

I am very appreciative for the thoughtful editorials in The Alabama Baptist. Dr. Terry has expressed convictions I, and I think many others, have on a number of issues. Two editorials in recent issues were particularly noteworthy.

One is the declining relationship between Cooperative Program support and the Southern Baptist Convention presidency, which was covered in the May 15 issue in “What the Race for SBC President Says.” I have observed the weak record of support for the Cooperative Program by the churches served by several of our presidents. It appears that other more noticeable attributes are more important than support for our convention’s primary line of missions service.

The June 26 editorial comments regarding the 2008 convention’s resolution on church discipline is another example of Dr. Terry’s insight.

Thank you for being a good news source as well as an independent voice on significant denominational issues.
