Criticism grows of Chevrolet marketing tour

WASHINGTON — Members of the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) expressed grave concern about a Chevrolet marketing campaign and 16-concert tour “Come Together & Worship.” The 16-city evangelical concert and speakers tour debuted in Atlanta Nov. 1 and ended in Detroit, the headquarters of America automobile manufacturing, Nov. 23.

In light of to their concern that Chevrolet was promoting vehicles that are environmentally unfriendly, EEN has begun a “What Would Jesus Drive?” promotion to encourage consumers to consider more environmentally safe vehicles. Along with an Open Letter to Automobile Executives signed by an interfaith alliance of over 100 religious leaders, the EEN unveiled their “What Would Jesus Drive?” radio and print ads in Detroit.
