Hero
Reunion Records
There is quite a buzz surrounding the debut of the Reunion Record’s newest addition, Daily Planet. That’s right. The group named itself after the fictional newspaper that employed the infamous Clark Kent, known better as Superman.
So is this band going to be able to live up to its superhero status? Many believe so.
Daily Planet was formed at Azusa Pacific University in 1997 and has been crafting a unique rock sound ever since.
The band has drawn comparisons to mainstream artists like the Dave Matthews Band and Creed, but I tend to think their sound is in many ways different. Frontman Jesse Buterworth’s vocals are edgy and intense at times, yet somber and inviting at others.
As a whole, the band relies heavily upon catchy lyrics and the infectious guitar hooks to convey the energy of their music. Some are predicting Daily Planet to be the next Third Day or Jars of Clay.
“Hero” gives witness to the freedom found in Christ and sings of His love for us. As explained in the title track, the one true here is the One who created us.
