Newt Gingrich and William R. Forstchen. New York: Thomas Dunne Books, 2008. 369 pp. (Hardback).
Utilizing what is often called “active history,” this book examines how a change in one decision could have altered American history relative to the attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941.
Specifically, according to these authors, the outcome of history may have drastically changed if Admiral Yamamoto had led the attack instead of remaining in Japan. While this historical treatise is engaging indeed, this reviewer believes the story would be far more appealing if it were half its length.
