To meet the recent upsurge of interest in disaster relief, the Birmingham Baptist Association (BBA) will be providing two volunteer training sessions within the next three weeks.
On Nov. 3, instructors will teach the series “Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief.” These are basic introductory courses that must be taken before becoming a volunteer with the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Ministry. Classes are 8 a.m.-noon and will be held at the BBA.
A second training session will be held Nov. 10 for those who want to be involved with the Alabama Baptist feeding unit. Participants must have completed the prerequisite courses before registering. Classes are 8 a.m. –noon at Lakeside Baptist Church, Hoover.
A small fee is required to cover the cost of the meal each participant prepares as part of this training.
Volunteers who received their feeding unit training more than three years ago have the opportunity to attend update training Nov. 10. These classes will be held at Lakeside Church from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This training is mandatory for volunteers who wish to stay on the active volunteer list.
When making reservations for this set of classes, please specify update training as opposed to the basic feeding unit classes.
For more information about any of these training sessions, contact Linda Pair at the BBA by e-mail at Lindap@bbaonline.org or call 205-251-7161.
