Discussing Autonomy

The Alabama Baptist continues to make me proud to be numbered among Southern Baptists of Alabama. With regard to the Jan. 27 editorial, it brought several things to my mind.

1. Each local church is an individual organism to function as a theocracy as each member responds to God’s leadership.

2. The biblical epistles were written to specific churches each with specific needs.

3. Those needs are found in varying mixes in today’s individual churches. Oh! That we could be content with the shoe that fits.

There is a definite need for associations, state conventions and a national convention to most effectively carry out this commission, but remembering Galatians 3:25, let us be one in Christ.

Oh! That we might once again be bound together with the “Rope of Sand.”
