East Gadsden recognizes Clower for 45 years

Shirley Clower was recognized for 45 years of service at East Gadsden Baptist Church in Etowah Baptist Association at a reception Sept. 17.

Clower was hired as the pastor’s secretary Sept. 19, 1972. She retired Sept. 19, 2017, as church office manager.

The church honored Clower with a meal following the worship service. A table displayed mementos from her years of service to the church, including photos, church directories from years past and a rotary phone like the one in the church office when Clower was hired. Clower said working at the church was something she enjoyed doing. “It’s been a joy,” Clower said. “I knew the Lord had put me there for a reason.” (TAB)
