The Easter season brings with it a myriad of emotions. On Good Friday our Lord was crucified on the cross at Calvary. He paid the price for all our sins.
We may feel sorrow thinking about how we today were part of the reason the nails were hammered into Christ’s hands. And yet as he hung there, Scripture tells us that Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
John 12:27–28 also tells us that Jesus Himself also said before the crucifixion, “It was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!”
And just as God promised on the third day following the crucifixion, Jesus was resurrected. Yes, the stone was rolled away, and the tomb was empty. He’s alive!
We can rejoice in the fact that because God sent His only Son to die on the cross we can have eternal life with Christ.
It is Christ crucified on the cross that bridges the gap sin made between God and mankind.
As Jesus said in John 21:29, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
As we all reflect the meaning of Easter during this season, The Alabama Baptist asked the following people to share what Easter means to them.
