NASHVILLE — Calling the decision an “embarrassing” but “honest mistake,” the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention has issued an apology for posting a video comparing animals to unborn babies.
The 50-second video featured Fordham University theology professor Charles Camosy stating that “nonhuman” animals “merit our serious attention” and included animal rights activists under the pro-life umbrella.
ERLC vice president for communications Daniel Darling apologized, explaining that the video, part of footage from the annual March for Life, was posted by someone on his team without approval and does not reflect the ERLC’s views. (TAB)
