Former state senator Hank Erwin (left) was awarded the fifth annual Alabama Citizen’s Action Program (ALCAP) Dan Ireland Salt & Light Award during ALCAP’s board meeting March 7 in Montgomery. Erwin, who currently serves as an ALCAP board member, was chosen for the award ‘for the way he has lived out Christ’s call for His followers to be salt and light in a decaying and dark world,’ according to Joe Godfrey (right), ALCAP executive director. Erwin is a ‘champion for the pro-family and pro-life’ movement, Godfrey said.
