Etowah Baptist Association revives 71-year-old preaching conference

Etowah Baptist Association (EBA) will host “School of the Prophets” on Aug. 18–19 at First Baptist Church, Gadsden.

In keeping with this year’s theme, “Take Heed, There’s Hope,” speakers will preach through the seven letters to the churches featured in Revelation 1–3.

Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, will speak Aug. 18 at 6 p.m.

Monday’s session begins at 10 a.m. and will feature Jonathan Akin, youth leader engagement director at the North American Mission Board; Mike Glenn, pastor of Brentwood Baptist Church in Tennessee; Mac Brunson, pastor of Valleydale Church, Birmingham; Kevin Smith, executive director of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware; Andrew Hébert, pastor of Paramount Baptist Church, Amarillo, Texas; and Micah Fries, pastor of Brainerd Baptist Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Chosen Road will lead worship.

A handwritten note from James Russell Hamilton in the “School of the Prophets” file at the EBA office indicates the first conference was held in 1948.

The upcoming conference will be the first in 23 years. (TAB)
