I am responding to James Walker’s “Letter to the Editor” appearing in the July 11 issue of The Alabama Baptist.
I am 65, surrendered to preach at 45, graduated from Southwestern Seminary with an associate of divinity in 1984, and currently have an application for the Million Service Corp, pending local church endorsement.
I have been involved in FAITH Sunday School Evangelism Strategy, seven semesters, in the church where I am a member, and I am going into the eighth.
If I were asked to sign a statement affirming belief that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, I would do that too, without reservations.
I have no objections to signing any statement that reaffirms Jesus Christ, the family and the church.
I am not disagreeing with Brother Walker.
As a brother in Christ, he has every right to voice his beliefs.
I applaud Brother Walker for stating his convictions.
