GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Christian financial expert Larry Burkett is remembered by friends and fans alike for his Christlike spirit and his firm stance on biblical principles following his death July 4.
The 64-year-old Burkett, a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, Ga., died of heart failure following a battle with cancer and other medical problems. A noted author and radio personality, he has been a monthly columnist for Baptist Press for two years. In 1976 Burkett founded Christian Financial Concepts, which merged with Crown Ministries in 2000 to become Crown Financial Ministries. The organization promotes biblical principles of stewardship and finances. He served as chairman of the board of directors for Crown Financial Ministries.
Burkett was the host of the radio programs “Money Matters,” “How to Manage Your Money,” “Money Watch” and “A Money Minute.” He also authored more than 70 books and authored two resources published by LifeWay Christian Resources: “How Much is Enough? 30 Days to Personal Revival” and “Jesus on Money.”
He was also one of the founders of the Alliance Defense Fund, a pro-family legal organization based in Arizona.
