First Baptist Church Abbeville has signed a contract to begin construction on its new sanctuary and education building. Pastor Ricky Sowell expects to break ground in September, with early 2028 as the projected completion. FBC’s former buildings were destroyed by a fire in late 2024. Since then they have worshipped in the family life center, the one surviving building, and met for Sunday School in the classrooms of Abbeville Elementary School.
