KAMPALA, Uganda — Five church planters were thrown off a boat to their deaths for telling Muslim passengers about Jesus Christ.
One Christian, who was serving as the church planters’ guide, was spared.
Morning Star News reported the five evangelists from End Time Word Ministry were on a commercial transport vessel heading to Aduku in Uganda’s Apac District. They were to plant a church in Aduku.
Amos Kyakulaga, who was spared, said 10 Muslim extremists and the five evangelists were arguing over whether Jesus is the Son of God. The Muslims warned the Christians to stop proclaiming Jesus or suffer the consequences.
The Christians continued to do so, and the Muslims pushed them, one by one, into central Uganda’s Lake Kyoga, where they drowned. The Muslims did not push Kyakulaga overboard after he said he was not a member of the group.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim and, though the constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion — including converting from one faith to another — Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence. Some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, World Atlas reported.
