A Ugandan man was hospitalized for a week after his adult sons attacked and beat him for putting his faith in Jesus Christ.
Kibirige Abumusa was beaten Aug. 9 at his home in Uganda’s Nakalama village, upon returning from being discipled in Jinja City, sources told Morning Star News.

Abumusa made a profession of faith in Christ on June 1 at an evangelistic event in Jinja City. He stayed there until Aug. 9 to receive discipleship at True Worship Centre Church, a source said.
An imam at a mosque Abumusa had previously attended in Jinja told one of Abumusa’s sons about the father’s conversion. When Abumusa returned home, that son and his four brothers attacked and beat him for leaving Islam, a neighbor told Morning Star.
Fearing hostility
After Abumusa was discharged from Iganga Hospital, he sought refuge at the home of a friend in a different village. That friend told Morning Star that Abumusa has not filed a report against the sons, for fear of more hostility.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim, though its constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, World Atlas reported.
