Kirk Smith is the new pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Lawley.
He was previously pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Centreville; Shady Grove Baptist Church, Randolph; Hillcrest Baptist Church, Maplesville; interim pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church, Jemison; and pastor of Rehobeth Baptist Church, Lawley.
Smith also serves as the emergency management director for Bibb County. He and Christy have two sons, one of whom also is a pastor in Perry County along with Smith’s father, Gervis.
Chris Kynard, who had been serving as pastor of Linden Baptist Church, has accepted the pastorate of a church in London, Kentucky.
Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, Holly Pond, will host two singings, each beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 5 will feature “The Perrys” and Sept. 20 “Living Faith.”
Faith Baptist Church, Gaylesville, celebrated its 50th anniversary Aug. 2.
