Fyffe’s New Bethel celebrates centennial anniversary

New Bethel Baptist Church, Fyffe, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special service Sept. 17.

The service began at 10:30 a.m. and featured a variety of guest speakers. Chris Guinn, director of missions for Sand Mountain Baptist Association, brought the morning message. Also during the service, church secretary Sandra Traylor read a history of the church and Wendell Dutton from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission presented a plaque honoring the church’s years of steadfast ministry.

All former pastors in attendance were recognized and ancestors of the church’s first pastor also were in attendance.

The fellowship hall held displays of scrapbooks and old photos.

The celebration was a “great day of remembering all God has done,” said Scott Traylor, chairman of deacons.

Clifford Millican is pastor.
