Poems, Prayers & Promises
Premier
Is “Poems, Prayers & Promises” a CD for retail sale or a demo of songs destined to appear on other artists’ recordings? If the truth were to be known, the answer can easily be either — or both. In fact, you might just find several recording artists buying this CD, looking for Gerald’s next big song.
Anyone who has followed gospel music for a decent length of time knows that Gerald Crabb is a talented songwriter who has a gift for crafting familiar thoughts and topics into masterful tunes. And if there’s anyone who thought those days were over when Gerald began concentrating on a solo evangelistic career, they just need to listen to this CD so the record can be set straight. They might even venture the notion that Gerald’s best writing days are still ahead of him.
Ten songs — all with strong country flavors — are found on the CD: “Changing Locations,” “If That Mountain Don’t Move,” “Can’t Sing the Blues No More,” “Home at Last, Free from Sin,” “God’s Gettin’ Ready,” “The Old Rusty Anchor,” “Still Smilin’,” “Hold On,” “The Other Side” and “The Dark Side of Grace.”
Best bets for listening enjoyment are “If That Mountain Don’t Move,” “The Old Rusty Anchor,” “Still Smilin’” and “The Dark Side of Grace.”
