Goodwin, James Denton “Denny”

James Denton “Denny” Goodwin, retired director of missions (DOM) for Hale Baptist Association, died Jan. 6. He was 69.

Goodwin received a bachelor of arts from Mississippi College in Clinton; master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; and doctor of ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. While a student at Southwestern Seminary, he served as language coordinator at the Southern Baptist Convention Radio and Television Commission.

The Alabama churches Goodwin led as pastor were Greensboro Baptist Church in Hale Association, Aliceville Baptist Church in Pickens Baptist Association and First Baptist Church, Demopolis, in Bethel Baptist Association. He served Hale Association as DOM from 2000 until 2007.

Goodwin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Davis Goodwin; two children; and four grandchildren.  (TAB)
