Grateful union mom

As the mother of a Union University (UU) student, I just wanted to thank you for your article on the tornado that hit UU.
My daughter, Katy, is a sophomore at Union.
The last two weeks have been so emotional for all of us — yet the peace and power of God have been so visible to us.

When we arrived on campus the day after the tornado we knew without a doubt that the Mighty Hand of God had stretched out over the entire campus to protect the lives of those students.
Our daughter was in one of the dorms along with 11 of her friends. The dorm she was in was barely standing — the sight still amazes me that they all escaped unhurt.

We ask that our Baptist brethren join us in praying for the Union students as they begin to go back to class and as they watch their campus change and emerge.
Thank you to all of our fellow Christians who have called and prayed and expressed their amazement at the devastation with no lives lost.

We know that material things are not important, but we also know that as our daughter and the other students begin to start over that they will come upon things that they lost and they will miss those things.
Thank you for your commitment to providing information and support to the Baptist community.
