It was a “great day” at Happy Home Baptist Church, Henagar, as the church — led by Pastor Dustin Henshaw — celebrated its 100th anniversary Oct. 24.
Display boards featured photos of former pastors and other church leaders as well as church events including Vacation Bible School, Christmas plays and missions trips.
Former pastor Jim Booth was the guest speaker, and former pastor Matthew Kilgore shared memories of his time at the church. Matthew Lindille, grandson of former pastor J.A. Lindille, also shared, and former pastor Jack Andrews sent a video greeting to the church with his memories of serving there.
Karla Wilson sang, and Justin Byrum, minister of music, and the praise band led congregational singing.
Wendell Dutton presented a certificate to the church on behalf of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission.
“It was a great day,” said church member Theresa Moore. “We could feel the Spirit of God.”
Following the service, a barbecue lunch was served at the church pavilion.
