Inaugural Southern Christian Book Expo brings authors, readers together

The fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, Birmingham, was packed full of authors and readers Feb. 2 for the first ever Southern Christian Book Expo.

The expo, sponsored by the Southern Christian Writers Conference (SCWC) and The Alabama Baptist (TAB), provided a time for regional authors to showcase their books and for readers to shop the selections ranging from Christian living books to devotionals to children’s books and fiction.

“We were so pleased with our first-ever Southern Christian Book Expo,” SCWC director Cheryl Wray said. “And we were thrilled with the connections made between authors and readers.”

Those at the book expo also got to meet the authors behind the books and even got to hear a few authors read excerpts from their own works.

It also provided the authors an opportunity to fellowship with other writers and share their experiences writing, publishing and promoting books.

“The authors and the shoppers all really seemed to enjoy themselves,” TAB editor Jennifer Davis Rash said. “I’m looking forward to seeing where this partnership between TAB and the Southern Christian Writers Conference will take us in the future.”
