Retired East Cullman DOM dies at 84

Jack Joyner, retired director of missions (DOM) for East Cullman Baptist Association, died Aug. 17. He was 84.

Joyner served as pastor of Vernant Park Baptist Church, Foley; Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Greenville; and Antioch Baptist Church, Lafayette, before serving as DOM for Butler, Wilcox and finally East Cullman Baptist associations, serving with the latter for 22 years before retiring in 1997. He also served as president of the Alabama Baptist Conference of Directors of Associational Missions from 1992 to 1993.

He held a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and two master’s degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, Cullman, at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mana, and daughter, Angela. He is survived by three children and two grandchildren. (Hannah Muñoz)
