Judson Begins Plan for Campus Garden

A group of novice and experienced gardeners met recently to make plans for the upcoming 2015 Judson College campus garden.

Enthusiastic Judson Garden Project volunteers included members of the faculty, staff and student body, as well as a citizen of Marion.

The meeting was held on the same day as both national “Food Day” and “Eat Local!” day. The three speakers at the meeting included Robert Botello, assistant food service director for Sage Dining at Judson; Chip Spencer, certified master gardener and owner of Spencer Organic Farm of Marion; and George Frangoulis, the Judson Garden Project founder and coordinator.

Frangoulis said, “The Judson College Garden is open to everybody — students, faculty and staff, as well as the citizens of Marion and Perry County.”

The mission of the garden project is to grow a sustainable campus garden for the college and the larger community to enjoy.
