Truimph
Traditional/Spring Hill
From one of southern gospel music’s most celebrated trios comes a fine new Spring Hill 11-song collection titled “Triumph.”
Karen Peck and New River enjoyed a great 2001 with its multiaward- winning “Four Days Late,” and the momentum gained by that song continues into 2002 with this effort.
The first radio single “I Wanna Know How It Feels” also occupies the first slot on “Triumph,” and it could very well be another chart-topping winner for New River.
Next is a work of art that features Peck, “Now that You Know.”
It is certainly one of the recording’s highlights.
New River’s trademark country flavor is applied to “Working for My Good,” and then the stories of several important biblical persons are portrayed in the excellent “I Am.”
John Darin Rowsey is featured on “Let the Healing Begin,” and it’s easy to see that he’s a perfect fit for New River.
The tempo kicks into high gear for “Rejoice” (did someone say “single”?). Susan Jackson turns in a great performance for “When It’s Down to You and Me” (another song that deserves radio consideration), and then it’s on to the inspiration for the recording’s title “Walk in Triumph.”
The group opens its musical wings with “Tougher Than Nails” and “Can You Believe It.”
Bringing “Triumph” to a conclusion is one of the best songs Karen Peck and New River have ever recorded, “Praying for You.”
You’ll find room for this one in your collection.
