James M. Efird. Macon, Ga.: Smyth & Helwys, 2006. 108 pp. (Paperback).
In the past 10 years, several quite popular books in the “Left Behind” series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have sold more than 62 million copies. These volumes have dealt with the end times, the rapture, the Antichrist and knowing when the end of the world will take place.
But what does the Bible really have to say about the end times?
This book written by a professor at the divinity school at Duke University in Durham, N.C., helps us explore the scriptural texts to answer the many questions raised by the series.
What this author does is to carefully examine what the Bible has to say about such subjects as the rapture, Antichrist and millennium.
James M. Efird then focuses on a discussion of dispensationalism as advocated by John Nelson Darby, which highlights the rapture, the Antichrist and the millennium.
Quite frankly, this reviewer is delighted that a biblical scholar with this author’s knowledge and background has made it possible for readers to discover what the Bible actually says about the end times.
