Legacy left behind

Legacy left behind

Upon seeing the article in The Alabama Baptist noting the passing of Dr. Arthur Walker I felt compelled to write this note.

Dr. Walker was, in my opinion, one of the finest men I have ever met. I was fortunate to have him as my professor of Old Testament my first semester at Samford University.

I went on to be in his classes in church history and religious education. He was a brilliant scholar. I do not think I have ever had a better teacher.

Dr. Walker was the finest kind of role model to his students. He lived his Christian values every day.
I was privileged to go with him, on occasion, when he preached in churches and lead the singing in the services. I saw his dedication to his faith.

He showed great interest in his students and always tried to help us.

However, He never would tolerate anything but the highest moral, intellectual and spiritual standards in the lives of those he taught. Alabama Baptists are indeed poorer at his passing.
