Let God be in control

Let God be in control

God said, “I will build my church.” He did not say I will build your church. You may be asking what is this writer getting at? I’ll tell you. In some of our churches some of our members seem to think they are the ones in control of what goes on in the church. Well, you are not given that responsibility unless you are the pastor. God owns the church not the members, the pastor, the deacons. God is the Shepherd; the pastor the undershepherd, the deacons are servants and are to serve the church under the guidance of the pastor as he undertakes to do the work of God through the church. God expects there to be unity in the church. Psalm 133:1 reads, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together in unity.”

God also expects us to be “doers of the word and not hearers only.” We are not to be “bench warmers” attending to be entertained by the music and preaching and then go back out no better than we came. None of us in God’s family are to be idle. When we all work together to enhance God’s churches we will not have the desire or time to be complainers or faultfinders.
