Look to God, not self

Look to God, not self

Being the son of a preacher and pastor, I have seen many wrongs in the Church. In my 20 years as a Christian, I have seen one group want something done in a church and the other want something else done. Needless to say, harsh and angry words are exchanged.

I have seen one of those groups get mad and leave to go and start their own church. I have witnessed many churches become social clubs where people focused on people instead of God.

I have watched several churches close down because the members got old and it was full of the world. They had stopped witnessing a long time ago.

I have seen people get hurt by a church and can’t go back or go to another church. I have watched rumors and gossip about a person hurt that person. What happens when a pastor lets his emotions, feelings, opinions and thoughts lead him instead of God? What happens when he doesn’t pray? What happens when he allows this to destroy one of his member’s spiritual life and drives that person out of the church?

There have been too many Christians done wrong by their churches. They have no place to file a complaint or get reconciliation. This is because the church is not accountable to any earthly person or organization. Such a place is badly needed. This is a disgrace and not right.

Those churches will stand before God come judgment day and answer for their actions. Meanwhile, what are the hurt Christians to do? Should they turn on their TV to get their spiritual needs met? Should they join a cult? God help us all for focusing on people and not Him. God forgive us for not obeying the Scripture given to us in the Word.
