Lord’s Supper and sin

Lord’s Supper and sin

I want to commend Gloria Turman for her letter to the editor in the Oct. 2 issue of The Alabama Baptist about the Lord’s Supper. I believe baptism has been taken lightly as well. Congregations need to hear expository sermons and be taught biblical doctrine to grow in the knowledge of the Lord. Way too often, we are guilty of giving people way too many “feel-good” sermons and “self-help” sermons and never touching on the importance of repentance, holy living and taking the things of God seriously. It is an awful truth that many partake in the Lord’s Supper in a state of apostasy and sin. It is also awful that many never hear sermons on repentance and sin.
