In early May, Kelly heard reports that a Christian businessman, a graduate of Christian Leadership Training Center (where Kelly serves as academic dean), has bought a building in Chiba Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo. He has a vision to use this building to develop a Christian center, which will include facilities for Christian conferences, retreats and possibly a third training location for CLTC. It may even become the location of a new church.
Two other men now receiving training through CLTC have a vision for evangelism among the youth subcultures of Tokyo. Because of the complexity of language and culture, these are segments of Japanese society that missionaries would have a hard time penetrating with the gospel. But God is calling Japanese evangelists who have a passion to reach the young people of their own country for Christ.
We ask you to pray for this emerging generation of Christian leadership that God is raising up in Japan. Pray that they will develop the spiritual maturity to continue to walk with Jesus, even in the face of opposition and disappointment.
