Mark Gainey is the new pastor of First Church, Fultondale. He previously served as pastor of Deerfoot Church, Trussville. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Troy University, a master’s degree from Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham and a doctorate from New Orleans Seminary. He and his wife, Tasha, have four children.
Thirty more Christians have been slain in Nigeria in continuous persecution spanning years.
“I came expecting opportunities to meet authors, editors, publishers, agents and other writers,” said Carolyn Donaldson, who was attending the Southern Christian Writers Conference. “What surprised me was finding community — a tribe.”
Religious nationalism, transnational repression and state control of religious groups are among growing trends in the persecution of Christians globally, International Christian Concern (ICC) said.
